ArtPlusOne Series: Beth Dooley with MILKWEED EDITIONS

As we begin to approach the holiday season we have cooked up a delicious event for the latest in our "ArtPlusOne" Series. We are honored to collaborate with Milkweed Editions who present author and chef, BETH DOOLEY, as she offers tastings from her recently published cookbook "In Winter's Kitchen".

Alongside the delicious morsels from the Midwest, will be ceramic serving dishes from artist CHUCK SOLBERG, and of course a visual feast of paintings from our stable of talented artists will provide a seasonal backdrop to the author and her food.

BETH DOOLEY has been involved with the local food movement for over twenty years. She is the author of numerous award-winning cookbooks about Heartland food traditions and... her travel and food writing has been featured in the Star Tribune, Fine Cooking, Delta Sky Magazine, and the North American Review. She is also regularly a featured guest on MPR's Appetites with Tom Crann. Beth and her husband have three sons and live in Minneapolis, MN.

Founded in 1980, MILKWEED EDITIONS is an independent book publisher. Our mission is to identify, nurture and publish transformative literature, and build an engaged community around it.

'ArtPlusOne' exhibitions are an ongoing series of events which pair art works from the gallery with a 'guest' artistic format in a way that enhances, or is inspired by, the other. This thoughtful interplay of mediums allows us to see both art forms in a new light, and offers the viewer a fresh appreciation from their unique fusion.

ArtPlusOne: MacPhail

For the third exhibition in our "ArtPlusOne" Series, we collaborate with MacPhail Center for Music to combine two classical forms of creativity: art and music.

LIVE MUSIC will accompany the gallery's thoughtfully selected collection of art. Watch and witness how each musical piece intertwines and lifts the art from its static plane, into an all-encompassing emotive experience.

Various talented students from MacPhail will be performing vocally, on wind and also on string instruments throughout the evening in the gallery.

Based in various locations across the Twin Cities, MACPHAIL transform lives and communities through exceptional music learning. Their vision is to provide students of all backgrounds and abilities access to exceptional music learning experiences through extraordinary faculty, innovative programs and integrated learning technology to create successful outcomes.

Don't miss this very unique and ethereal collaboration as we support our local youth musicians!

LOCAL ARTIST, ELEANOR MCGOUGH, AND FRENCH JEWELERY ARTISAN, HORTENSE LA TOUR, EXHIBIT TOGETHER TO CREATE A BESPOKE ONE-OF- A-KIND SHOW! WHERE FINE ART MEETS FINE JEWELRY, EACH ARTISAN TAKES YOU ON A JOURNEY THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE AND LIFE.

Hortense La Tour is flying in from France especially for the event
to show her jewellery for a limited time only!

Join us to celebrate the fusion of art, jewels and music in a night of spontanaeity and culture!

ELEANOR MCGOUGH
McGough's paintings explore our fleeting place in the larger patterns of weather, migrations, motion, and time. Imagined hybrid life forms inhabit terrestrial, aquatic, or atmospheric spaces, revealing a fragile and tenuous relationship within these systems. She is drawn to the research of high altitude entomology that details the astonishing fact that billions of insects are carried in air drafts through the layers of our atmosphere. This idea serves as a visual metaphor to the broader context that all life is transitory and swept up in vast currents of energy.

HORTENSE LA TOUR
La Tour is a 'bijoux d'auteur', an author of jewellery. Being a troubadour of gold and jewelry means every piece she creates has it's own story, and within each creation an emotion is captured inside as a gift of eternity.

Hortense has worked in the prestigious houses of Pomellato, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent for 16 years, during which she studied to become a Designer at the Politecnico of Milan in Italy. There she learned the commitment of a style, the mastery of forms, the handling of materials, the arrangement of colors, mixing genres, the precision of the detail, and the choice of finishes.

Hortense La Tour now creates her own line, inspired by Italy, a way of life which inhabited her spirit for 22 years, and the light of the Mediterranean which sparkles at sunrise.
