VALERIE GRONDIN

Valerie has been a Paris resident for over 25 years. She graduated from the prestigious art school ENSAAMA Oliver de Serres.

Valerie worked for 15 years in the French luxury fashion LVMH Company, but never abandoned her passion for making art over the past 20 years. She started by creating her art using a complex and colorful mélange of watercolor combined with black ink, using mainly her plume to play with lines and stripes.

All these years of creating figurative, detailed and colorful pieces have been a terrific asset in Valerie’s work, enabling her to use the multitude of white variations she uses in her current work. She explores the wonders of lines and tone-on-tone nuances to create a rich yet settled palette that forms an organic, textured and unique body of work.

In her series titled “White, Afterwhite and Mixed” she plays with infinite elegance, to create works featuring a world of white and iridescent silver stripes. As they dance playfully on the canvas, she conveys intertwined feelings, emotions and metaphoric expression between the real and the imaginative.

In her latest series titled “Rebound” Valerie incorporates black strokes as an homage to the stains of the past to her harmonious tone-on-tone palette which creates a powerful world of new imagery.

Lately, Valerie has given a new dimension to her passion for making art. In 2015 she became a certified art therapist, Valerie heals patients in their last days of suffering with the help of art therapy. This has given her an even deeper and meaningful inspiration for her paintings.
